Description:

The Physiology of Work & Exercise Response (POWER) Lab is seeking volunteer (unpaid) undergraduate research assistants to help with two new research studies. Both studies involve assessing body composition in adult humans (18+ years old) using bioelectrical impedance techniques, air displacement plethysmography, ultrasound, etc. Both studies begin data collection in January 2026, so assistance is needed with both simultaneously. One study is a cross-sectional, single-visit design aiming for 80 total participants. The other study is a dietary protein supplementation study utilizing two groups of ~26 participants each and lasting 5 weeks per participant. Research assistants must be available primarily in the mornings, (7:30-11:59am), Monday-Friday, but Saturday and afternoon availability is also desirable. Research assistants will learn and gain experience in data collection, data entry, scientific abstract writing, research conference presentations, body composition assessment techniques, basic urinalysis, nutrient analysis, and more. Research assistants must complete CITI research ethics training and EHS lab safety training upon hire (again, unpaid). CPR certification is also desired but not required. |
