Description

Older adults commonly experience reduced mobility due to various reasons. Assistive devices are continuously developed with the goal of improving the mobility of older adults to ultimately increase feelings of independence, increase overall mobility, and reduce fall risk. The first phase of this project revolves around the development of two ambient assistive devices designed for older adults. The developmental phase of this project involves 3D modeling, finite element analysis (FEA), component selection, and electrical system design, including circuit schematic development and component integration. The second phase of this project will evaluate the performance and acceptability of the assistive devices developed through human subjects research.
