Description

“Who is Mermaid” is an Art-Driven Anthology of the Mermaid myth. (A compilation of mermaid myths from around the world, compiled into one journal) Each entry in the anthology will include a fully rendered illustration, created by me, supplemental images, and a written portion that describes the details of the myth. Notion will be our main platform for all written and compiled information, supplemented with Google Docs.

This project’s goal is to explore as fully as possible this phenomenon within mythology and literature, and better understand this fantastical creature’s origins. As well as the origin of the associates aesthetics and ideas attributed to mermaids in the collective consciousness.

The main tasks
1. Review the Leads to Investigate and determine if the lead is a worthwhile inclusion to the list.
2. Source scholarly resources for the myths on the list, 3 sources per myth.
3. Assist in writing (300-word) entry summaries per myth.
4. Peer-reviewing the illustrations of each myth to improve them.
